The Housekeeper

I clicked on my iTunes and BB King plays.

"Woke up this morning. After another one of those crazy dreams. Oh, nothing is going right this morning. The whole world is wrong it seems."

Then I really couldn't hear the song at all.

My thoughts wandered off to over two decades back, in the art school with raw bricks for walls. built like a maze with long corridors, which opens up to rows of classrooms.

Graphic Design students will work through the night on group projects, and that's when we'll hear the clicking footsteps like someone on high heels. I will look down the long corridor and there'll be no one in sight.

Once there were three pounding knocks on the wall from a low angle, like a child running by with a mallet in hand.

There were incidents where the girls experience a cloud of black, swirling smoke in the darkroom, ascending on them from the ventilation ceiling grille.

I walked by the reception one evening, and a framed illustration of James Dean leaning on a car that looked like a Cadillac fell sideways instead of a straight drop, and stopped me dead on my tracks.

We had the punch-in clock and our punch-in cards were meddled with. It seems like someone used his hands, pressed on the cards and gave them a fold.

I opened the door of the dean's office one Saturday. It was dark, but I heard a "boo" coming from a low angle like from a child. I ran off like my life depended on it.

Then there was a part-time student. He was one of those Chinese "mediums" who could see these "things." Well he was doing the perspective classes so he can do some interior designing and charge the fee for a one-stop Feng Shui package.

He said there was a constant party out there in the reception. Long tongue, big ears, no eyes, long hair and other old, scary ones. They've been around for some time and they could move things around and make sounds, like a Poltergeist would.

And the strangest of it all, he mentioned that there is a "Housekeeper" – the lady in red and high heels. She has a restless, young son with her.
